Career coach and writer.

Welcome! I’m Jenny, a career happiness coach and journalist of over 20 years.

Hello, I’m Jenny, a career coach on a mission to help you find happiness in your career, whatever your job and whatever stage you’re at. As a career, business, and life coach, I work with people who want to make changes in their working lives, be that for promotion, a new job, or a pivot into or from freelancing and self-employed life.

I offer one on one coaching, CV coaching, group coaching and also write about the world of work, careers and business.

It’s likely if you’ve found this website then you are feeling lost or, to use a very specific psychological term, ‘meh’ about work. You might be in a place where you know there is more – more you want to do and achieve – but you aren’t sure where to focus and what to do next. You might be considering freelance or self-employed life, or the opposite - finding a full-time role away from freelancing.

This site is all about how we can work together to help YOU find your career happiness, with a sprinkling of my work as a writer to give you some background of my own story, too.

My Approach

Working together to find career happiness

Being happy at work can feel like an unreachable goal - and each person’s perception of being happy at work changes throughout their career.

If you feel like you’ve lost your ‘career happy’ then coaching can help you find it again. Equally, if you’re feeling happy at work but feel you could be happier, then coaching can help you with that too.

Coaching works because it is time to focus solely on you and your career happiness goal, cutting out the noise of everything and everyone around you.

As your coach I walk alongside you while you move forwards towards your own definition of career happiness. I don’t tell you what to do, or say you have to take actions - instead, you choose what actions will work for you. And the best bit is as a coach I am your accountability partner, and you can check in with me when you reach a goal, complete a task or are feeling challenged and want to run away!

I use pure coaching techniques, where the client - YOU - has space to think and express feelings as a way of working out what you want to do, and what you want to stop doing when it comes to work.

Working together

Are you craving career happiness? Feeling stuck in your work, frustrated and even wishing you could quit, pivot, go freelance or just run away and join the circus? Perhaps you work for the circus and wish you could be in a 9-5 role… The world of work is a big, overwhelming place, especially post-pandemic, and we put a lot of store in being happy at work. So whether you’ve lost your confidence and want to find it again, or are looking for the next big steps in your career, then career happiness coaching is the answer. It’s all about you, and your goals and a chance to really work out what you want to do next to be career happy.

Career happiness coaching

Coaching for anyone who is feeling stuck, or wants to be happier in their work. You might be looking for a promotion, to change jobs, to quit, to go freelance or just to feel happier day to day.

Choose from a one-hour ‘brain dump power hour’ through to a set of six sessions or a CV coaching session. The level of commitment is up to you.

Coaching for freelancers and the self-employed

As a former freelancer over many years, I have coached a lot of freelancers. I offer coaching for the self-employed and freelancers, as well as those considering taking the leap into solopreneur life.

I also offer one on one CV and LinkedIn sessions for freelancers - click below to find out more!

Hello, nice to meet you.

Thinking abut coaching with me? You’re probably wondering how I became a coach when I’ve been a journalist for over 20 years…

I decided to become a coach after having some pro bono coaching as a ‘test client’ for friends who were training as coaches. I saw, through my own experience, the power of coaching as a way to find a way forward in my career. In fact, it was through coaching that I decided coaching would be a good choice for me.

I trained with Optimus Coach Academy which is accredited to the ICF (International Coaching Federation). I’ve coached over 100 hours one-on-one and in groups as well as running workshops.

Coaching is a very unique process - there is an immense power in the experience. I’ve written more about what happens in a coaching session in the Career Happiness Blog.

Case Studies

“Relaxed but focused”

Molly Christoudoulou, Artist and Therapist

I decided to have coaching as I felt a bit stuck in my career, I wasn't sure if becoming freelance was the right thing for me and which ideas to pursue. Since coaching I'm feeling much happier and more settled, I understand what was holding me back and the direction I'd like to be moving in. I now have regular clients for one of my freelance jobs and Jenny was a big part of that, especially her help with my CV. I would describe coaching with Jenny as relaxed but focused. Our sessions were always really productive but I felt like she gave me the space I needed and I wasn't under any pressure during the. She was really easy to work with as she's so approachable and friendly.

“Calm and supportive”

Anette, Creative Writer

I was struggling with my writing. I had a particularly large project to finish, and I just could not focus or motivate myself. I decided that I needed a coach and thought Jenny was the perfect fit for me as she specialises in helping writers as well as businesses. I was not disappointed. Jenny was very clear, and that helped me understand that I have ADHD and often people overcomplicate things. Jenny was calm and supportive; she worked out quite quickly that my faith in my writing had disappeared, and I was suffering with self-belief and confidence. The whole experience was uplifting and not only a positive impact on my writing life, but all my life and how I looked at it.

“Organised and focused”

Sinead Hanna, Content consultant and podcaster

This was my first time working with a coach and Jenny was perfect. She was thoughtful, organised and focused in every session. I'm armed with a new CV, and a practical list of things I can do when I need to 'hustle' for more work or to boost my profile. I feel inspired, excited and confident rather than nervous. Crucially, Jenny also gave me great guidance on how to turn down work and to prevent burnout, which was invaluable.

  • "Jenny has a lovely calm presence"

I've been really lucky to receive some great coaching from Jenny.  Jenny really focused on me - on what I wanted to discuss and achieve during the session - she asked some really searching questions and gave me space and time to think, which is so valuable when, usually, life runs at 100 miles per hour! Jenny easily helped me to see what I needed to do next. Jenny has a lovely calm presence and being coached by her was a fabulous experience. I highly recommend to anyone who needs to work things through and/or just needs some time to think about themselves and their business or work.

FAQs

  • With a ‘discovery call’ - 15 minutes (or so) where you can quiz me all about coaching (and off load a little if you need to). This can be on the phone or on a Zoom call. You can set up a chat by clicking this link.

  • Many coaches call their fees an investment. I don’t agree with that - these are prices, pure and simple. The investment you’re making is in YOU!

    One-hour ‘brain dump’ coaching/mentoring session £99

    CV 1:1 Coaching 60 mins £149

CV plus Linkedin coaching 90 mins £179

    Three coaching sessions £399

Six coaching sessions plus a CV coaching session as session 7 £799

[All blocks of coaching are payable upfront]

  • Once we agree a date for your coaching sessions to begin, we’re making a commitment to working together. I will send you a contract, which protects us both, outlining the commitment to a weekly session, and cancellation terms.

We’ll then diarise the weekly sessions.

There’s flexibility, of course! Some clients have three of their six sessions weekly, then move to fortnightly. Some have five sessions weekly, then wait a few weeks for the final session.

Most clients have their CV session at the end of the block of six, as we can then add all the wonderful things we’ve discovered together onto the shiny new CV!

CV one on ones are bookable around your schedule - we can work first thing before work, in the evening, on a Friday or over a weeked.

Get in Touch!

Schedule a free 1:1 introductory session with me to discuss how I can help you. Intro sessions - AKA Discovery Calls - last around 15 minutes and are a chance for you to get an idea of how we connect and ask me questions about coaching.
